This EP was recorded over the course of two sessions somewhere in the late spring and early summer of 2013. Wild Dinosaur had just returned to Oakland and invited Sheepdog to the Vulcan for a day, recording resumed at Russell Sessions, shortly thereafter.
Composed of meandering basslines, relaxed and fluid guitar playing, an ethereal Korg and a couple of Alesis drum machines, the songs range from tranquil and spacey to stompy and menacing. Of note is Wild Dinosaur's “Tin Cans,” which receives a four-tracked and folked-up treatment and “Walt,” which will pass for “pop” in the ITRR catalog. Animal Farm documents an intimate and light-hearted encounter during what was a busy time in both artists' lives.
This is the companion album to Ninja Mind Control's Meat Robot.
